Milkshakes at Holsteins

— Staff Writer

You will find Holsteins on the second floor of the swanky and modern Cosmopolitan. This is a Strip favorite that serves some great burgers and fries. You can even check out the hamburger database to see for yourself.

But the burgers here are just the sides. We come because they offer some incredible milkshakes in a range of flavors. Each of these is a story you will bring back home, making everyone you tell super jealous. This is the way to show-off, and the way to Vegas, baby. (That’s a titular line).

The Bam-boozled Shakes at Holsteins frequently change for the seasons and special events, meaning you will never quite know what is available. We loved the Frozen Grasshopper, which had peppermint, chocolate, Crème de Menthe, and van Gogh Chocolate Vodka. The sides of the glass were coated in chocolate and mint chocolate-chips, giving the shake a visual appeal that, admittedly, is a bit hard to eat. Still, we liked it to the last drop.

Some other favorites include the newer Covfefe, which has Lay’s potato chip infused Russian Standard Vodka, confetti cake, cherries, a corn flake crispy treat, cherry lollipop, sugar flags, more Lay’s potato chips, vanilla frosting, and confetti sprinkles. Although a bit of a joke, it goes down like an American dream, and is quite fun to order with a group no matter which side of the aisle you represent.

You will want to take plenty of pictures, especially if you get the ones with big toppers. And kids can have theirs without alcohol, so they don’t have to feel left out if you come with the family.

But if you want to try them all, you might need to make a few visits. The possible list is a bit long.

Prices for these shakes are currently $15, but don’t forget a tip.

The décor of Holsteins is welcoming, a funky, sort of twisted farmyard chic. You’ll enjoy the cute cows, and the other assembled characters, from mad scientist pigs to sunbathing pickles. Created by local Las Vegas entrepreneur, Billy Richardson, Holsteins appeals to the new Vegas crowd, but has a taste that everyone loves.
