The Scene Pool Deck at Planet Hollywood

— Staff Writer

This free rooftop pool with live DJs and two pool decks is a great option on a budget. But that means it can get a little crowded. The crowd can also get a little rowdy.

The pool has its own FlowRider, so if you want to show off your boogie-board skills, you can do so in front of friends and strangers. You might even get lucky and find a deal to lower the price.

A smaller venue than some, it is important to arrange in advance if you want daybeds or cabanas.

FlowRider

The FlowRider simulates wave surfing and has a special liner that absorbs impacts, making wiping out not that bad (but onlookers can still see you dip).

It costs $25 per 30 minute session.

Height Requirement: 42 inches to use a boogie-board; and 48 inches to use a surf board.

Families

We would steer away from the Scene Pool Deck if looking for a family excursion. Although the FlowRider might tempt you to take the kids, the general demographic is young adults and singles. Kids will intrude on the scene.

Our recommendations

Honestly, it lacks some of the visual appeal of other pools and day clubs. A little greenery would go a long way. But you get what you pay for, and can’t really beat the price.

Make a reservation ahead of time to use the FlowRider, if you’re going to.
